Hi just had a link to this site from the FazerOwnersClub-Unofficial (www. foc-u.co.uk) spent along time going through all the stuff you have posted and found it great. A bit NICE one for getting off your buts and doing it, I have wanted to do something similar for a while but now with a young family will have to wait for a while. VERY good site, so here is wishing you all the best fortune, happy motoring and more importantly SAFE motoring. Best wishes Adam

Hi Guys - Hooray, you're going home! It will be so nice for you to experience normal boring domesticity (sp?) for a while. Just read the diary about trying to get your bike back from customs and groaned with recognition. What an awful time! SO nice to think of the two of you zooming down the rest of the continent with the bike as I was reading it. Merry Christmas! Amara and Leif

Hey! LOVED your latest update. Made me smile and dream and start planning for our next adventure. Miniscule in comparison to your own, you pair of globe trotting adventurers. Thought the bit about gate crashing the clean water party was excellent - grubby kids, I can relate!!! I bet V and G will be extremely excited to see you for the movie ending arrival. Rousing music in the back ground, flash backs to the places you've been, close-ups of tear-stained faces welling up into triumphant cheering and fading out from family, to house, town, city, country, world - HOME I've enjoyed your trip, the pictures and your humor. You have allowed me to travel to places I can only imagine and see parts of life from a personal perspective that travel shows can't capture. Peace, love and joy to you and everyone at home this Christmas time, Cousin Ali

Hi Guys: Rich and Sylvia here. We are back on the lake now after 6 wks. and 5000 miles in Turkey. We just finished reading the latest amazing entries. What a great job of writing you have done Jane, you really bring it alive for us, the good and the bad. And as time passes, the bad times just become interesting stories, and the good times richen into fairytales. Congradulations!!!!a real accomplishment. And that whole deal of me talking about Dan Walsh and showing you articles of his I had cut out of Bike magazine a couple of years before only to have you riding with him months later........toooo much. And if I could quote from Dan's article.. " ...pick a town from the Lonely Planet and pluck a route from the Michelin map-something squiggly with lots of contours. It doesn't get any better than this-waking up with no plans just ideas, spending 10 minutes working out an unknown route, then making it real.....Load up the bags, oil the chain, pull on my lid, adjust my goggles. Nod at the bus-load of squids with their itineraries and packed lunches. And drift" It was never better said. Stay in touch, Richard and Sylvia

Hi from Paul, Patricia and bump. As usual Jane's diary entries have left me with a huge grin on my face. Even the whole impounding saga makes for enjoyable readling (well knowing it all had a happy ending before hand helped.) Can't wait to have you both home for a proper hug - but will miss the ongoing Saga - hmm wonder where you can head of to next. Will try and keep my legs crossed till you get home so you don't miss anything. Take care and have fun.

Well, you couldn't call it a *real* trip without getting into trouble with the law. Leif and I should know from our personal experience! Hi Guys, Are you the Guatemala neighbors of Lyle and Andree.? If so, then we communicated by email already. I'm the guy from Montreal who (just) completed a solo Moto trip (25,000 km.) from Montreal to San Jose, Costa Rica and back! When I arrived in Panahachel, I missed you by a few days (if you ARE Lyle and Andree's neighbours). Am I confused...or what...perhaps too much Mezcal!?!? Ness PS good luck with Peru customs. The ONE consistant thing ALL borders - Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica - all told me a thousand times, was that you had better clear out at least a few days BEFORE the carnet expired...just to be sure...but I never inquired as to what would happen if I didn't. Well thanks for the lesson at your expense !! :-) GOOD LUCK and don't be too proud to grovel...I found it to work in Central America the few times I did it!

Hi J&R - you don't know me but we know the 'poodle people' your folks who live in the 'van on Pine Ridge in Rockley. My family and I live in 77 Pine Ridge whenever we can. I parked my shiny new R1200GS outside the van this weekend (7th August)and it wasn't long before we were engaged in conversation about your trip with your parents(in law). To their credit they recognised my bike as being similar to the model you have taken on your trip. Anyway - not much purpose to this mail except to say that I am green with envy over your fantastic trip and when I ride the M40 to High Wycombe this evening I will squint my eyes and pretend I'm emerging from the tree line in the Andes! (If there is one) And the new 1200 is a gem - handling, speed and practicality set in the styling of a Hummer. best regards mel glass mglass@fis-eu.com

I am back at the office after 2 and a half years retirement, helping out occasionally with proof-reading and typing and it is great to be back and earning a few Rands (which immediately goes into medical bills as have had a few problems but all seem sorted out now thank goodness, old age catching up with me, 70 in a couple of weeks, yuk. No doubt you have heard what a wonderful holiday I spent with your mother and father in the Cape, again something I will never forget, places of which I had heard so often but not had had the chance to visit. I will be leaving Montreal around the 28th of May on a solo "adventure" motorcycle trip and I should be back in September. These are all the countries I plan to visit; Mexico Belize Guatemala El Salvador Honduras Nicaragua Costa Rica Panama They told me about you and I should be following in your tracks soon, arriving in Mexico around the 12 of June. So I will be following your site very closely. Have a great trip and stay safe. If you can pass me names/cities of "decent" budget lodgings, I would really appreciate it. Dear Richard and Jane Have been catching up on all your news. My big news is that I have decided to leave Craegmoor. I leave on 11th June. The reasons behind my decision to leave are complex and for a face to face discussion and not an e mail. In the short term I intend to stay at home with Ellie!!! We are currently trying for a little brother or sister for Ellie or maybe two of each!!! Will keep you posted on any developments!!!! Ellie is well. She has just learnt to walk which is a nightmare for us!!!! She is currenly into everything and we are going through the process of making the house child proof!!!! Antony is well. He is very busy at work but we are both looking forward to our holiday at the end of June. We are going to Spain for two weeks with Ant's mum and dad and his sister, brother in law and Katie and Lewis. Should be fun. Will let you have my new e mail address once I get one. Incredible! I am in now in San Jose, C.R.. I have an interview with the Minister of Education here in Costa Rica tomorrow morning at 8:30am for my research. My trip has been wonderful excepy being ripped off of $1,000 U.S. at the Guat./El Salvador border because I was 3 days late leaving with my vehicle permit. Now I am struggling for money and trying to collect on all of my loans.. so remember that $300 you owe me...just kidding! It's really great to get the up dates from you and please let me know how you made the successful jump to Equador with the bike. The info. will be incredibly appreciated! Keep the rubber side down! Hi Jane and Richard, This is Noreen, just visiting the office to see your website as Nicola has been telling me how marvellous and interesting it is. Gee, but what a holiday you have been having and are still enjoying. So looking forward to seeing your Mum and Dad on the 20th, only two weeks away now for me to see them, cant wait. Going for drinks now at 4 with some of the office to the local tavern. Today we have actually had sunshine, we have had such a long, cold winter, even had to wear thermals for the first time in my life, is it the age thing do you think? Enjoy the rest of your hol, take care of yourselves all my love, Noreen xx

Hi Jane and Richard wow,I'm so jealous!! Marcus hasn't seen your site yet, it will give him ideas! ..but I'll show him. I love the website..and the photography..even the videos are great! Janes a natural writer.. I completely agree with you about the lions and tigers and I too have the fear of never reaching the top of a hill and sliding back downwards! The canoeing looked great , I have done quite a bit of that in my time, even been in a K1 and lasted 10 mins before keeling over! You two are having a ball!! well done for getting it all together, we do regret not making your party, I bet it was a good one! We are in a strange never never land of sleepless nights, nappies( real ones!) toys and rice cakes. Parenthood is non stop and exhausting, but we adore it!! Alexander is such a sweetie now, his character is really coming through now. He just melts you when he gently rests his head on your chest and strokes your arm. He can also be very cross and demanding!! We've just starting our pre conceptual care for the next one!( we hope!) Take care but have lots of fun too! lots of love Brigid Marcus and Alexander

Jane and Richard You must have the patience of saints! Beats sending postcards any day. What a fab idea (the website and the trip). The itinerary is brilliant. Really wonderus pics - more of petrol (or should I say gasoline) pumps and water hydrants pleassse! I will be tracking your movements (pardon my french) on a daily basis. Can't wait for your next installments. Take care of each other, I know you will and it goes without saying, the bike too. Best of luck Luv Anjie and the Boys

Look first message we get you are in Canada-next in Mexico. What are you driving. The police say it is actually OK for you to come back to the country, they have cleared up all the 'incidents' from Jim's stag party in Bournemouth! But Mexico is definetly a good choice! Nick and Mary Garner

Brilliant, what are you worrying about? Have just had a call from Suzanne to say she cant pick up the website, but we think she is doing something wrong at her end. She did say last night that they were novices on the internet. Bungalow must be very comfortable, I think. Enjoy the rest of your stay and recover quickly from your bruises and burns (face).. You did look very well.. Love M&D.xxx
