What a great job of writing you have done Jane, you really bring it alive for us, the good and the bad. Well, you couldn't call it a *real* trip without getting into trouble with the law. Leif and I should know from our personal experience! One of the tips I would give you is to continue trying to sightsee in between visits to the various bureaucratic offices - otherwise you will drive yourselves crazy with boredom and anxiety. I'm the guy from Montreal who (just) completed a solo Moto trip (25,000 km.) from Montreal to San Jose, Costa Rica and back! When I arrived in Panahachel, I missed you by a few days (if you ARE Lyle and Andree's neighbours). Am I confused...or what...perhaps too much Mezcal!?!? Ness PS good luck with Peru customs. The ONE consistant thing ALL borders - Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica - all told me a thousand times, was that you had better clear out at least a few days BEFORE the carnet expired...just to be sure...but I never inquired as to what would happen if I didn't. Well thanks for the lesson at your expense !! :-) GOOD LUCK and don't be too proud to grovel...I found it to work in Central America the few times I did it!

Also we where worried about Columbia only to hear the bike has been impounded in Peru!! What a bummer.. we're really sorry and thinking of you. Hi J&R - you don't know me but we know the 'poodle people' your folks who live in the 'van on Pine Ridge in Rockley. My family and I live in 77 Pine Ridge whenever we can. I parked my shiny new R1200GS outside the van this weekend (7th August)and it wasn't long before we were engaged in conversation about your trip with your parents(in law). To their credit they recognised my bike as being similar to the model you have taken on your trip. Anyway - not much purpose to this mail except to say that I am green with envy over your fantastic trip and when I ride the M40 to High Wycombe this evening I will squint my eyes and pretend I'm emerging from the tree line in the Andes! I am back at the office after 2 and a half years retirement, helping out occasionally with proof-reading and typing and it is great to be back and earning a few Rands (which immediately goes into medical bills as have had a few problems but all seem sorted out now thank goodness, old age catching up with me, 70 in a couple of weeks, yuk. Dear Richard and Jane Have been catching up on all your news. My big news is that I have decided to leave Craegmoor. I leave on 11th June. The reasons behind my decision to leave are complex and for a face to face discussion and not an e mail. In the short term I intend to stay at home with Ellie!!! We are currently trying for a little brother or sister for Ellie or maybe two of each!!! Will keep you posted on any developments!!!! Ellie is well. She has just learnt to walk which is a nightmare for us!!!! She is currenly into everything and we are going through the process of making the house child proof!!!! Antony is well. He is very busy at work but we are both looking forward to our holiday at the end of June. Incredible! I am in now in San Jose, C.R.. I have an interview with the Minister of Education here in Costa Rica tomorrow morning at 8:30am for my research. My trip has been wonderful excepy being ripped off of $1,000 U.S. at the Guat./El Salvador border because I was 3 days late leaving with my vehicle permit. Now I am struggling for money and trying to collect on all of my loans.. so remember that $300 you owe me...just kidding! Janes a natural writer.. I completely agree with you about the lions and tigers and I too have the fear of never reaching the top of a hill and sliding back downwards! The canoeing looked great , I have done quite a bit of that in my time, even been in a K1 and lasted 10 mins before keeling over! You two are having a ball!! well done for getting it all together, we do regret not making your party, I bet it was a good one! We are in a strange never never land of sleepless nights, nappies( real ones!) toys and rice cakes. Parenthood is non stop and exhausting, but we adore it!! Alexander is such a sweetie now, his character is really coming through now. He just melts you when he gently rests his head on your chest and strokes your arm. Look first message we get you are in Canada-next in Mexico. What are you driving. The police say it is actually OK for you to come back to the country, they have cleared up all the 'incidents' from Jim's stag party in Bournemouth! But Mexico is definetly a good choice! Nick and Mary Garner

Hi Richard and Jane We had a great honeymoon ourselves but it seems a long time ago now!! The website is great, you look like you're having fun. Brilliant, what are you worrying about? Have just had a call from Suzanne to say she cant pick up the website, but we think she is doing something wrong at her end.
